Service Activities for Families: First Grade

In first grade your child is celebrating the goodness of God and his creation. The children also learn about the goodness that is inside of them and of others.

These activities will help family members recognize and appreciate the good in the people around them.

1. All Saints' Day is November 1^st. On that day we remember not only the canonized saints but also good men and women. Help your child make Goodness Flowers. First, have your child choose three people who do good things. Draw the outline of three flowers on fall colored paper and let your child cut them out. Help your child print the good things the three people do on the stems. Let your child deliver their Goodness Flowers on All Saints' Day.
2. Invite family members to make Just Because gifts for each other. Write family members names on slips of paper. Allow each family member to draw a name. Family members can give flowers, IOU's for hugs, kisses, extra chores or special treats. Family members can wrap gifts or put them in special envelopes.
