Service Activities for Families: Third Grade
In third grade your child learns that as members of God's family we are asked to show our appreciation and respect for all of God's gifts.
These activities will remind family members to appreciate the happiness God's creation brings.
- The feast of Saint Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of animals, is celebrated on October 4th. Your family can organize a collection to aid animals. Collect recyclable cans and plastic items from neighbors, family and friends. Take the items to a recycle center and then send the money to a wildlife center or an animal adoption center.
- Help your child make a Thank You God poster for the family. Ask family members to write down a few things they are very grateful for in their lives. Help your child cut out pictures from magazines or draw pictures that represent these ideas. On a poster board, write the name of each family member and then glue the correct pictures next to that person's name. At Thanksgiving dinner, have your child share the poster and allow family members the opportunity to express their feelings about being grateful.
